IND vs NZ: Shubham Gill fastest to 2000 ODI runs, fifth youngest from India to achieve feat - Check Full List

IND vs NZ: India opener Shubman Gill on Sunday became the fastest batter to complete 2000 runs in ODI cricket. He achieved the feat during India's fifth match of the ODI World Cup at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala.

Shubman Gill went past the record held by South Africa great Hashim Amla who took 40 innings to achieve the landmark score. The Punjab batter scored 26 off 31, and now has 2012 runs from 38 innings at an average of 62.88 and a strike rate of 102.60.

Four batters including two from Pakistan are the joint third-fastest in the elusive list. Two of these batters including Pakistan captain Babar Azam are part of the ongoing World Cup 2023.

Shubman Gill is also the fifth youngest batter from India to complete 2000 runs in ODI cricket. Gill got the milestone score at the age of 24 years and 44 days. The list is headed by Sachin Tendulkar and also includes the likes of Yuvraj Singh, Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina.

Shubman Gill missed the first two matches of the World Cup 2023 due to dengue. The batter played his debut World cup match against Pakistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and hit his first fifty of the tournament against Bangladesh in the following match.

India are chasing a 274-run target against New Zealand to stay unbeaten and register their fifth consecutive win in the World Cup 2023. New Zealand also haven't lost any of their first four matches.
