IND vs NZ: Tim Southee edges past Virender Sehwag on Test Sixes Tally, climbs to sixth on All-Time List

During the ongoing Bengaluru Test, New Zealand's hard-hitting lower-order batsman, Tim Southee has added another feather to his cap by going past India's Virender Sehwag in Test sixes tally.

The Nawab of Najafgarh, who is known for his aggressive batting approach has tonked as many as 91 sixes throughout his illustrious Test career. On the other hand, New Zealand's Tim Southee who is known for his impressive six-hitting ability, started this Test, just two sixes shy of Sehwag's mark, with 89 sixes to his name.

Nevertheless, he didn't take long to eclipse the Indian great as he launched four towering sixes in a counter-attacking innings that saw him score an impressive half-century. He constructed his explosive knock with the help of 5 fours and 4 sixes at a strike rate of 89.04.

Tim Southee scored 65 off 73 balls before he fell prey to Mohammed Siraj's slower delivery, which brought the end to an impeccable 137-run partnership for the eighth wicket with Rachin Ravindra. The duo's innings turned the tide after India had managed to take a few quick wickets earlier in the session.

Southee’s six-hitting prowess has now placed him sixth on the all-time list for smashing the most sixes in Test cricket. Meanwhile, England's Ben Stokes tops the list as smashed a staggering 131 sixes. Following him are New Zealand’s own Brendon McCullum (107) and Australia's Adam Gilchrist (100).

West Indies legend Chris Gayle, who is famous for his hard-hitting style, occupies the fourth spot with 98 sixes, while South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis smacked 97 sixes.
