IND vs NZ: Why Shubman Gill left field despite not being dismissed? Will he bat later?

India's semifinal clash against New Zealand in Mumbai has started fantastically for the home team. But the superb start has soured a bit with the departure of Shubman Gill off the field.

The passion and intensity of cricket in India are often matched by the fierce heat of the subcontinent. This was manifested in Mumbai's sweltering weather, which claimed Shubman Gill as its casualty. The sultry day, combined with the absence of a cooling breeze, proved to be a challenging climate for the players. Being under such arduous conditions can indeed take a toll on the body, as was the case with Gill.

Shubman Gill's Physical Exhaustion

Shubman Gill collapsed on the field after physical exhaustion, prompting the team's physio to rush to his aid. India, at that moment, was under the hope that Gill's condition was merely a consequence of dehydration-induced cramps. But the batter wasn't able to continue and left the field.

Also Gill was suffering from Dengue earlier and also missed the first couple of matches due to that. His physical stamina and immunity may well be still compromised and the sultry condition of Mumbai has taken a toll on him.

The heat and the extreme humidity of Mumbai drained out all of Shubman's energy and the player had to leave the field. At the moment, Gill is retired hurt on 79 off 65 balls. He hit 8 fours and 3 sixes in his superb knock so far. Shreyas Iyer has come to the crease and is along with Virat Kohli.

Will Gill come back to bat later?

Shubman Gill obviously can come back and bat later in the inning. As the sun goes down and the weather cools a bit, or Shubman's physical condition improves, there is ample possibility of the Indian batter to come later in the inning and have a crack.
