It was one Ravindra's misfortune, which made the day for another Ravindra in Dharamshala. And in between them, there was another man who had an even greater lack of luck, Mohammed Shami.

India's Ravindra Jadeja dropped an absolute sitter of Shami's delivery, which gave a massive life to New Zealand's Rachin Ravindra in their ongoing ICC World Cup 2023 match today.

A simple catch, which is Ravindra Jadeja's Thepla and Khaman (provided he is a Gujarati), but the Indian all-rounder made a meal of it. The ball popped out of his hand and the fielder was in dismay, so was his better half at the stands.

And even more in agony, and disgruntlement was Mohammed Shami. Although the pacer didn't show anything out of bounds, he was visibly shocked and disappointed. Shami is making is World Cup 2023 debut against New Zealand and got off to the perfect start by picking up Will Young in his very first delivery. Shami could have and perhaps should have got two wickets to his name.

And at that time, the Kiwis were 40 for 2 - hence the wicket of a batter like Rachin Ravindra would have taken India in the driver's seat. But it was not to be, as Ravindra Jadeja's rare mishap on the field gave the Kiwi Ravindra a huge let-off.

The commentators were also in awe of the rarity, as Jadeja is someone who is not known for missing anything. One of the most impeccable fielders in the history of the game, Jadeja also got team India's in-house best fielder award in the last match against Bangladesh.

To make matters worse for India, Rachin Ravindra has pounced on his life and is capitalizing on that. The southpaw is batting unbeaten on 57 at the moment and together with Daryl Mitchell, motoring along with the scoreboard.

The duo have already put on more than 100-run partnership as New Zealand is currently at 125 for 2 at the end of 25 overs.
