IND vs PAK: It's almost time and India are set to take on arch-rivals Pakistan in their first match of the Asia Cup 2023 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on Saturday, September 2.
Fans have their calendars marked for the much-awaited contest for months and the players of the team are equally excited to play against each other for the first time in the ODI format since the 2019 World Cup.

However, in a news which has left the fans worried, high chances of rain has been predicted in Pallekele, Kandy on the day of the match. In fact, rain showers have made their presence felt in the last few days at the venue in Sri Lanka.
Pallekele hosted the second Asia Cup 2023 match between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh on Thursday. Rain interrupted the course of the match only once during the first innings as Sri Lanka defeated Bangladesh by five wickets in a contest which saw no deductions in overs.
However, the weather update for Saturday is bleak. AccuWeather has predicted a rain chance of 94 percent. Chances of thunderstorms stands at 27 percent. "A thick cloud cover and humid with a couple of showers," AccuWeather has predicted.
Rain from 1:00 AM to 3:00 PM, 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM, 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and then 9:00 PM to 11:00 PM has been predicted. There is a high chance of the match getting abandoned due to rain. The humidity level will also be close to 100 percent.
Pallekele has historically been a batting paradise. The surface is expected to be hard with no hollow noises. Spinners could play a bigger role in the first innings, while the second innings is expected to help the pacers. Team winning the toss is very likely to bat second. Bangladesh opted to bat first in the first match here and lost the match by five wickets.
