IND vs PAK, Champions Trophy 2025: When & Where Will India-Pakistan Match Take Place?

Pakistan is scheduled to host the Champions Trophy 2025 with eight teams including arch-rivals Team India set to battle it out for the title from February 19 to March 9, 2025.

The Champions Trophy, which makes it's return after 8 years, will see the eight teams divided into two groups of four with each team facing the remaining three teams in single round-robin matches, and following that the top two from both groups will progress to the semifinal.

In a draft schedule for the tournament submitted by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), India have been clubbed with Pakistan, Bangladesh and New Zealand in Group A, while Group B comprises Australia, South Africa, England and Afghanistan.

Recently, ICC head of events Chris Tetley met PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi in Islamabad after the world body's security team inspected the venues and other arrangements.

Like in most ICC tournaments, India may be in the same group as the hosts Pakistan. However, the Indian team is yet to confirm if they will travel to their neighbouring country after opting not to in 2023 for the Asia Cup.

The Asia Cup 2023 was conducted in a 'Hybrid Model' with India playing their matches in Sri Lanka as the Indian government refused to permit the players' travel across the border.

While there is still doubts over the Indian team travelling to Pakistan, PCB has submitted a draft schedule with all of India's matches set to be in Lahore, according to a report by PTI.

When and where will India vs Pakistan Champions Trophy 2025 match take place?

According to reports, the high-voltage IND vs PAK match will take place on March 1, 2025 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, where the final of the tournament as well as a semi-final will be played should India qualify for the last four.

As per the draft schedule, seven games will be held in Lahore, while three will be played in Karachi and five in Rawalpindi. The Lahore venue could host another match depending on India's progress.

"The PCB has submitted the draft of the 15-match ICC Champions Trophy. Seven games in Lahore, three in Karachi and five in Rawalpindi," an ICC Board member told PTI.

"The opening match will be held in Karachi with two semifinals in Karachi and Rawalpindi, final in Lahore. All India matches (including semifinal, if the team qualifies) in Lahore," the source added.

The report further adds that the chiefs of all the boards have agreed to visit Pakistan for the tournament except for the Boar of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

"All board chiefs of the ICC Champions Trophy participating countries (minus BCCI) have assured him of their complete support but BCCI will consult its government and update the ICC," the source added.

The ICC, on its part, can't force any board to go against it's government policy and it will be interesting to see as to when BCCI takes a final call on the matter.
