BCCI on Sunday dismissed reports of the Indian cricket team wearing their alternate orange kit for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 match against Pakistan, to be played on October 14 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. BCCI's honorary secretary Ashish Selar made the statement.
Arch-rivals India and Pakistan will clash in their World Cup match at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium. Dismissing the media reports of India wearing an alternate kit for the game, Shelar said in a statement, "We categorically dismiss the media reports that Team India will be donning an alternative match kit against Pakistan.

"These reports are absolutely baseless and a work of someone's imagination. The Men in Blue will sport India colours - Blue at ICC Cricket World Cup 2023," he said.
Notably, India did wear an alternate kit during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. Since both England and India were wearing Blue colours in the tournament, Team India switched to a darker shade of blue with orange sleeves during their match with England.
Earlier a controversy erupted when a video surfaced online claiming that Pakistan captain Babar Azam was welcomed with a saffron scarf upon arrival from Pakistan. However, the claim was later reported false as it was learnt Pak players were welcomed with scarfs of different colours, including saffron.
While India play their first match of the ICC World Cup 2023 today (October 8), Pakistan have already played their first match against the Netherlands in Hyderabad and won it by 81 runs margin. They play Sri Lanka on Tuesday before facing India on October 14. India will play Afghanistan three days before the big game in Ahmedabad.
