By MyKhel Staff

IND vs PAK: Leaving their disappointing outing against New Zealand behind, India Women bounced back against Pakistan Women in their second and must-win match of the T20 World Cup 2024.

After being asked to bowl first in the scorching heat in Dubai, India Women derailed the Pakistan batting lineup, and reduced them to 71/7 just before the completion of the 15th over.

Pacer Renuka Singh drew the first blood by dismissing opener Gull Feroza on the final ball of the first over. The delivery swung back in sharply to surprise Feroza and clean her stumps.

Experienced Deepti Sharma picked the second wicket for India in the powerplay. The off-spinner clean bowled Pakistan Women number three Sidra Amin in the fifth over.

On the fifth ball after the powerplay, pacer Arundhati Reddy helped India get rid of Omaima Sohail, Meanwhile, young Shreyanka Patil bowled a miserly spell in which she dismissed well set opener Muneeba Ali. The Pakistan Women came down the track to break the shackles but was stumped by Richa Ghosh who was very impressive behind the stumps.

Reddy trapped Aliya Riaz in the following over, before a stunning one-hand catch from Ghosh off Asha Sobhana sent the Pakistan captain Fatima Sana packing for 13 off eight. Patil returned for her second spell and reduced Pakistan Women to 71/7 by dismissing Tuba Hassan for a three-ball duck.

The off-spinner conceded just 12 runs in her four overs. Reddy (3/19) returned to bowl the last over and pick her third wicket by uprooting the stumps of Nida Dar, Pakistan Women's highest run-scorer in the match with 28 off 34 balls. Only four Pakistan batters scored in double digits as they were restricted to 105/8 in 20 overs.

The India Women bowling unit looked completely out of shape against New Zealand in the first match. They failed to bowl as per the field and looked under pressure as New Zealand posted 160/4 and won the match by 58 runs.
