India pulled off a stellar victory against Pakistan on Sunday (June 9) to strengthen their T20 World Cup 2024 status.

It was a see-saw battle at the Nassau County Stadium but in the end, Rohit Sharma's men prevailed by just 6 runs to register an emphatic win.

India was bowled out for 119 runs, their lowest in T20 World Cup history. Pakistan, needing a win, bowled superbly to dismiss India for that low score. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma opened for India but both left early. Kohli scored just 4 runs, while Rohit made 13 runs. Rishabh Pant was the only significant contributor with the bat.

India was 89 for 3 at one stage but then collapsed. Shivam Dube, Suryakumar Yadav, and others fell quickly as Pakistan dismantled India's middle order. Ultimately, India was bowled out for 119 runs with an over to spare.

Pakistan made a steady start but lost Babar Azam after he scored 13 runs. Despite looking comfortable, Pakistan struggled with the asking rate. The middle overs swung the game in India's favour as Pakistan managed only 26 runs and lost 3 wickets from the 11th to the 15th over.

Axar Patel dismissed Usman Khan, while Hardik Pandya took the dangerous Fakhar Zaman's wicket. Jasprit Bumrah got the crucial wicket of Mohammad Rizwan, and Pakistan crumbled under pressure as Shadab Khan followed soon. In the end, Pakistan's lower order fell short, managing only 113 runs. India secured the win by 6 runs, showcasing their resilience and determination.

With the defeat, Pakistan's chances for qualification to the Super 8 is in jeopardy. They will have to now rely on USA's defeat to advance to the next round. Amid this doldrums, the fans are not happy at all and they have shown their frustration.
