IND vs PAK, T20 World Cup 2024: Four bowlers to watch out as India take on Pakistan in New York

IND vs PAK: Team India will take on Pakistan in the Match 19 of ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024. The marquee clash will kick off on June 9, Sunday at 8:00 PM (IST) at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.

The Men in Blue will enter the game as the favourites, considering that they have a healthy head-to-head record against Pakistan. In the seven meetings between the two heavyweights in T20 World Cups, India have won five games whereas Pakistan won just once and the other game ended in a tie, which India won the bowl-out.

It is going to be a tricky contest, given the nature of the pitch which is quite slow. As a result, it makes it quite tough for the batters to time the ball well for big shots. The pacers are expected to extract a lot of positives from the surface. Let's take a look at the four bowlers who are likely to produce a spark in the riveting encounter.

1. Jasprit Bumrah: Jasprit Bumrah who is widely acknowledged as one of the best fast bowlers in modern cricket has been in spectacular form of late. He is particularly known for his disciplined and effective bowling where the batters have found it quite tough to pick his lengths. Bumrah who was adjudged the Player of the Match (2/6 in 3 overs) against Ireland is expected to weave the magic with the ball against Pakistan.

2. Mohammad Amir: Mohammad Amir who reversed his international retirement made a comeback for Pakistan in the recently-concluded five-match T20I series against New Zealand wherein he took three wickets in 4 games. Amir who has taken 4 wickets in 3 T20Is against India will be vying to unsettle the Indian batters in the marquee clash.

3. Arshdeep Singh: Arshdeep Singh could be the potent weapon for India in the upcoming clash against Pakistan. The left-arm seamer has already shown his credibility to swing the ball both ways, making it tough for the batters to pick his deliveries. Overall, he has taken 6 wickets in 3 T20Is against Pakistan. With yorkers, slower balls in his sleeve, he will be looking to pose a serious threat to Pakistan.

4. Shaheen Shah Afridi: Shaheen Shah Afridi can swing the ball both ways with the new ball and will surely be a potential threat to Indian batters in the powerplay overs. His late swing often troubles top-order batters and scoring runs against him have never been that easy as the pacer maintains a disciplined line and length. Shaheen who has taken 3 wickets in 2 T20Is against India will be ready for the challenge.
