Nassau County, Jun 9: In a high-stakes T20 World Cup Group A match, Team India were bundled out for a meagre 119 runs in 19 overs against arch-rivals Pakistan at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium on Sunday (June 9).
The collapse, especially in the second half of the innings, highlighted India's struggles against a formidable Pakistani pace attack on a pitch that isn't conducive for batting.

Put in to bat first, India's innings began on a shaky note. Star batsmen Virat Kohli (4) and Rohit Sharma (13) were back in the pavilion by the 7.4-over mark, followed by Axar Patel (20). With India reeling at 43/3, Rishabh Pant and Suryakumar Yadav (SKY) stepped up to steady the ship. The duo looked promising, taking India to a decent 81/3 in the first 10 overs, with big hitters like Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, and Ravindra Jadeja yet to come.
However, the promising start quickly turned into a nightmare. Suryakumar Yadav threw his wicket away in the 12th over, sparking a dramatic collapse. Shivam Dube and Rishabh Pant followed suit, losing their wickets in the 14th and 15th overs, respectively. The remaining Indian batsmen failed to provide any resistance:
Suryakumar Yadav (7), Shivam Dube (3), Ravindra Jadeja (0), Hardik Pandya (7),
Jasprit Bumrah (0), Arshdeep Singh (9), and Mohammed Siraj (7*) were the batters who perished in the second half of the innings without putting up any fight. The team added just 38 runs in the last nine overs, losing seven wickets in the process. Seven batters were dismissed in single digits.
Pakistan's pace attack proved too hot to handle for the Indian batsmen. Mohammad Amir (2/23), Naseem Shah (3/21), Haris Rauf (3/21), and Shaheen Afridi (1/29) executed their plans to perfection, exploiting the conditions and keeping the Indian batsmen under constant pressure. Their disciplined bowling and ability to take wickets at crucial moments ensured India never got a chance to recover.
