However, as it turned out, he lacked the killer instinct to channelize his aggression against the run of play. Pakistan's opening batsman Abdullah Shafique who scored a surreal century against Sri Lanka in the previous game was nowhere close to posing a threat to India. The right-hander got off to a good start, hammering three fours in the powerplay but he couldn't capitalize on his innings before playing right into the hands of Mohammed Siraj in the last ball of the 8th over.

Siraj bowled a good length ball which angled in towards Abdullah and to which, the right hander misjudged the line and paid the ultimate price. He departed after making 20 off 24 balls.
