India are up against South Africa in the shortest format of international cricket, as the T20I series starts in Cuttack from Monday (December 9).

After losing the Test series, team India bounced back to clinch the three-match ODI series, but the focus now shifts to T20 cricket, ahead of the World Cup in a couple of months' time.

The Indian team has a big task ahead under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav, who will be hoping to continue the merry way. Shubman Gill is deemed fit to play, whereas Hardik Pandya is in doubt after a discomfort while bowling in the training session. Sanju Samson is being tipped to miss out as Jitesh Sharma may be handed the opportunity. Jasprit Bumrah also returns to the side after resting in the ODI series.

Aiden Markram will lead the Proteas, who see a return of Anrich Nortje for the first time since 2024 T20 World Cup. Dewald Brevis and Tristan Stubbs, along with David Miller, will form the middle order, while Marco Jansen and Corbin Bosch are expected as all-rounders. Kwena Maphaka can also be handed a chance but the youngster is likely to remain on the bench for this match.
