IND vs SA: 'Chak de India' - Ex-Players and Fans on Twitter hail India as Rohit Sharma and Team bring World Cup Home

By MyKhel Staff

India's winning juggernaut transpired to a joyous climax as Rohit Sharma and his men registered a fantastic victory in the T20 World Cup 2024 Final on Saturday against South Africa.

After a fantastic run in the course of the tournament, it was an ecstatic affair for India again in the final, who redeemed themselves after the 50-over World Cup heartbreak last year.

India batted first and scored 176 runs in their full quota of overs. Virat Kohli was the highest scorer with 76 runs, while Axar Patel (47) and Shivam Dube (27) also made telling contributions to the total.

With the ball, Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh struck early as Reeza Hendricks and Aiden Markram were sent back to the pavilion. Quinton de Kock played the anchor role and scored 39 runs, but it was Heinrich Klaasen who played a blinder and took the Proteas closer to the target. Klaasen batted in sublime fashion under pressure and scored 52 runs off just 27 deliveries. But Klaasen's departure swung the match to India's favour. In a jiffy, India revitalized with Jasprit Bumrah and the pressure mounted on the Proteas. With 26 runs required in the last four overs, South Africa failed to reach the target and fell short of 7 runs.

The crowd and the experts have gone wild after India's triumphant World Cup campaign. It has been a massive moment for the men in Blue who have ended their 11-year-long wait for an ICC title. Rohit Sharma's men suffered two ICC final defeats in the last twelve months but Kensington Oval has blown away all those despair into utter delirium of joy.
