Harshit Rana has been sanctioned by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for a breach of code of conduct.
During the first ODI against South Africa in Ranchi on Sunday, India's fast bowler Harshit Rana was reprimanded for violating Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct. Rana was found guilty of breaching Article 2.5, which prohibits "using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an International Match."

The breach occurred in the 22nd over of South Africa's innings, when after dismissing Dewald Brevis, Rana made a gesture directed towards the dressing room that could have incited an aggressive response from the batter. This was Rana's first offence within a 24-month span, resulting in one demerit point being added to his disciplinary record.
Rana acknowledged the violation and agreed to the sanction proposed by Richie Richardson from the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, so a formal hearing was not required.
The charge was brought by on-field umpires Jayaraman Madanagopal and Sam Nogajski, along with third umpire Rod Tucker and fourth umpire Rohan Pandit. According to ICC rules, Level 1 breaches warrant an official reprimand at minimum and can lead up to a 50 percent deduction of the player's match fee, in addition to one or two demerit points.
The India pacer picked up 3 wickets in the last ODI match in Ranchi, and has been included in the playing 11 for the Raipur match.
