By MyKhel Staff

Sanju Samson emerged as a formidable force for India in the first T20I against South Africa on Friday (November 8) as he notched up his 2nd consecutive century in the format.

From the outset, Samson showed no hesitation, dispatching the ball to the boundary with both finesse and power. His assault began with some beautifully executed shots, setting the tone for his innings.

He then specifically targeted Keshav Maharaj during the powerplay, signaling his intent to dominate the South African bowlers. The Kerala native's onslaught continued throughout his innings, effortlessly hitting fours and sixes, and making the vast expanses of Kingsmead seem all too small.

Samson's century was achieved in just 47 deliveries, making it the fastest hundred by an Indian batsman against South Africa in T20Is. Furthermore, Samson's achievement of scoring consecutive centuries in T20Is-a first for an Indian player. The India batter hit 7 fours and 10 sixes, thus equaling the most number of boundaries for an Indian in the T20Is with Rohit Sharma.

"I was in a zone, it was automatically flowing, so I let it flow. Focus on one ball at a time and that helps. The wicket does play a big role here, extra bounce and coming from India we do take time to understand the wicket," Samson said.

Samson was also emotional while describing his excellent form. The player had to wait for a long time on the wings but has finally started to showcase his class.

"If I think a lot I will get emotional. I waited for this moment for 10 years, I'm very happy, grateful and blessed. But I would like to keep my feet on the ground, be in the moment and enjoy. Looks a really good score, if we bowl to our 80% potential we should be fine," Samson added.

Samson's century helped India to post a big total as the visitors put 202 runs on the board.
