IND vs SA: Ramandeep Singh was fighting a lone battle for India A in their semi-final match against Afghanistan A on Friday, October 25, when the BCCI announced his selection in the senior India men's T20I team for the upcoming series against South Africa.
India were 100/5 when Ramandeep Singh showed tremendous grit and played shots all around the park to keep India in hunt of the massive 207-run chase. His partnership with Nishant Sindhu for the sixth wicket accounted for 68 off just 31 balls. The right-hander scored 44 of those runs off just 18 balls.

India lost the match by 20 runs but the intent from the 27-year-old ensured that Afghanistan had to fight hard till the final over to earn their maiden final spot in the ACC Emerging Asia Cup. 30 runs were needed off the last six balls as the Chandigarh-born star took the onus of playing the entire over.
He managed to hit just two fours, and was caught out on the final delivery. India lost but millions notice the heroics of the seam-bowling all-rounder.
Interestingly, the BCCI selectors picked Ramandeep Singh in the India T20I squad for the South Africa tour amid his blazing knock against Afghanistan in the semi-final of ACC Emerging Asia Cup 2024. Ramandeep flexed his muscles just at the right time and smashed eight fours and two sixes in his 34-ball knock for 64 runs. Ramandeep Singh was still batting in the middle when the India squad was released.
Ramandeep also picked three wickets in the continental tournament, and also picked a sensational catch of Pakistan opener Yasir Khan. The catch played a crucial role as India secured a seven-run win. Yasir had hit three sixes and a four and was taking the game away from India A.
Ramandeep Singh will be joined by his Punjab and India A teammate Abhishek Sharma on the India tour. Tilka Varma, who was the captain of India A in the ACC Men's T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup, has also been picked for the India vs South Africa T20I series.
