IND vs SA: India defeated South Africa by 7 wickets in the second Test at the Newlands in Cape Town on Thursday, January 4 to level the 2-match series 1-1. The game ended inside two days and the 642-ball affair made it the shortest completed Test match in terms of balls bowled. Also, the win was first by an Asian team at the venue.
Starting from their overnight score of 62/3, South Africa finished their second innings at 176 runs after a fighting 99-ball hundred from Aiden Markram. Jasprit Bumrah (6/61) picked the first four wickets of the day to complete his maiden Test five-for in South Africa.

India chased down the 79-run target in 12 overs and seven wickets remaining. Yashasvi Jaiswal gave India a cracking start by hitting six fours en route to his 23-ball 28. Shubman Gill was clean bowled by Kagiso Rabada for 10 runs off 11 balls.
Virat Kohli scored 12 runs off 11 balls and was dismissed by Marco Jansen after a faint edge landed into the gloves of wicket-keeper Kyle Verreynne. The star batter shook his head once the third umpire asked the on-field umpire to overturn his not out decision of not out.
Shreyas Iyer hit the final ball of the 12th over from Jansen for a four over mid-on to complete India's historic win and a stunning comeback after losing the first match by an innings and 32 runs. He hugged his captain and fellow Mumbaikar Rohit Sharma (17*) on the field, while Virat Kohli and Rahul Dravid were seen congratulating each other in the dressing room.
In the final session on Day 1, Mukesh Kumar picked two early wickets to put India in the driver's seat. South Africa had opted to bat first after winning the toss but got bundled out at 55 runs in the first innings. Mohammed Siraj picked six wickets for India in the first innings.
India took a 98-run lead after contributions from Rohit Sharma (39), Shubman Gill (36) and Virat Kohli (46). India lost their last six wickets without adding anything to their first innings total of 153.
