IND vs SA: Former KKR player slams India for not playing this player in Centurion

Former Kolkata Knight Riders player Pakistan's Salman Butt has taken the Indian team management apart for not picking Arshdeep Singh for the South Africa Test series.

India's WTC campaign took a sour turn in the first Test in Centurion, as they were mauled by hosts South Africa by an innings and 32 runs. It was a dismal performance from the Indian side who failed to impress on South African soil yet again.

Arshdeep Singh

India played Prasidh Krishna and Shardul Thakur in the match, whereas Arshdeep Singh was not even picked in the Test squad. The aforementioned duo picked up 1 wicket combined in the match and went for plenty of runs. Prasidh Krishna made his Test debut and didn't look at his best.

And former Pakistan captain Salman Butt has slammed the Indian team management and blamed them for their team selection.

"Instead of playing Prasidh Krishna or Shardul Thakur, it would have been better if India picked Arshdeep Singh in the squad. He bowls over 135 kph and also swings the ball both ways. He might have been effective in the Test. Prasidh Krishna and Shardul Thakur gave a lot of easy boundary balls. It doesn't seem that the two can challenge batters," Butt said on his YouTube channel.

But to Butt's dismay, India has now called up Avesh Khan instead of Arshdeep Singh for the 2nd Test against South Africa. Avesh Khan will be playing as a replacement for Mohammed Shami, who hasn't been given clearance by BCCI's medical team.

India's defeat at Centurion took a toll on their WTC standings as well. After the defeat in the 1st Test, India are currently placed 6th in the standings with a PCT of 38.89. South Africa and New Zealand occupy the top two spots with a PCT of 100 and 50 respectively.
