IND vs SA or IND-W vs AUS-W? Which Match Attracted More Viewers On Thursday?

It was a doubleheader for Indian national cricket teams on Thursday (December 28) as Rohit Sharma and Co were in action on Day 3 of the 1st Test against South Africa in Centurion while Harmanpreet Kaur was leading the women's team during India women vs Australia women 1st ODI in Mumbai.

However, which match attracted more of the public's attention on the day, especially when the Indian men's team was trying to prove its credentials in South Africa while Harmanpreet Kaur & Co were trying to build on the momentum they gained from a historic win over Australia in the one-off Test match.

Things didn't go as per fans' likeness in any of the games as India lost both games. However, it probably turns out that fans on the day preferred watching the Indian women's team more than the men's team.

MyKhel noticed that towards the end of the India women vs Australia women match in Mumbai with the visitors in the driver's seat to take the game, 58 lakh fans were viewing the game on the official OTT platform for the match, JioCinema. At the same time, the Indian men's team was heading towards the innings defeat as well and had 32 lakh viewers on Disney+Hotstar watching the game with India reeling at 100/7.

However, the website lacks the data to confirm what was the peak or overall viewership during both matches on the day. But it won't be a surprise that the conducive nature of one-day cricket viewership may have attracted more eyeballs toward the India women's match.

While Rohit Sharma and Co disappointed on the day for an innings defeat, Indian women's team batters dazzled the crowd with some good innings in front of the home crowd with Jemimah Rodrigues scoring 77-ball 82 while Pooja Vastrakar delivering a 46-ball 62 not out. Yastika Bhatia missed out on a half-century by a solitary run as well.

Their innings were undone by the great Aussie batting line-up as Ellyse Perry (75), Phoebe Litchfield (78) and Tahlia McGrath (65*) making lightwork of Indian bowling to chase down the total of 283 in just 46.3 overs.
