IND vs SA: Ravi Shastri calls Match Referee 'Punching Bag', leaves Rohit Sharma and Aiden Markram in Splits - Watch

By MyKhel Staff

The T20 World Cup 2024 final between India and South Africa witnessed a hilarious moment during the toss, with former India head coach Ravi Shastri leaving both captains, Rohit Sharma and Aiden Markram, in stitches.

Shastri is known for his entertaining antics during the toss in crucial cricket matches, and this time was no exception.

IND vs SA

Shastri continued his punch and counter-punch references while introducing the captains and then took it to another level while referencing the match referee.

"In the green corner, ready to land an uppercut for the first time, in South Africa captain Aiden Markram. And punching all the way through the tournament is Rohit Sharma," Ravi Shastri said at the toss.

The biggest laugh came when Shastri referred to match referee Richie Richardson as a potential punching bag, which almost floored the India captain Rohit Sharma.

"West Indies' very own, the one there to keep things calm and be the potential punching bag is match referee Richie Richardson." This left Markram, Rohit, and Richardson himself laughing.

IND vs SA: Rohit Sharma won Toss

India's captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat first on a bright sunny day with gusty winds blowing across the 28,000-capacity venue. But India didn't have the best of starts as captain Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant departed early. Suryakumar Yadav also failed in the big final as India was tottering at 34 for 3 at one stage.

But Axar Patel and Virat Kohli stitched a crucial partnership and dug India out of that hole. Kohli is still going strong and at the moment India is 119 for 4 at the end of 15 overs.
