IND vs SA: Ricky Ponting shows South Africa path to beat India in T20 World Cup 2024 final

By MyKhel Staff

IND vs SA: Former Australia captain Ricky Ponting has explained the way South Africa can easily beat India in the final of T20 World cup 2024 at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on Saturday, June 9.

South Africa have qualified for the final of an ICC World Cup (ODI or T20I) final for the first time in history. They defeated Afghanistan by nine wickets in the semi-finals and are unbeaten in the tournament so far.

India, on the other hand, hammered England by 68 runs in the semi-final to qualify for the summit clash. The Men in Blue are also unbeaten in the ninth edition of the T20 World Cup.

Ricky Ponting has suggested South Africa to accept the magnanimity of the occasion, enjoy it and give their best shot to win the match.

"A lot of teams say 'It's just another game' and they try and hide away from how big the occasion is and it is no good doing that. it is all about embracing it for what it is," Ponting said on the ICC's Digital Daily show.

"These players haven't been there before, so enjoy tonight, enjoy tomorrow. But make sure everything you do leading in is the same and your preparation is the same," he added.

Ponting also reckoned that South Africa can manage to beat India by their best version. He said the undefeated Proteas don't need to change anything.

"They are undefeated upto here, so they don't need to change anything and they don't need to try any harder,” he said.

"They just need to turn up and be the best version of themselves and the best version of themselves as a team on the day and give themselves the best chance. If they do that, they will be hard to beat," Ponting concluded.
