Another batting massacre from Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma, this time in tandem, saw India post their 2nd highest total in T20Is, the highest on foreign soil.
The Indian team scored a massive 283 runs in the 4th T20I against South Africa on Friday (Nov 15) at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.

Sanju Samson scored his 3rd T20I century in five innings and ended up with an unbeaten 109 off just 56 deliveries. The Kerala-born showcased outstanding hitting prowess and hit 6 fours and 9 sixes. This is also Sanju's third T20I century in the last five matches.
If Sanju was destructive, Tilak Varma was beyond it. The southpaw massacred the Proteas pacers and scored an unbeaten 120 off just 47 deliveries. His sublime knock had 9 fours and 10 sixes. Tilak also became the second Indian to score consecutive T20I centuries, the other being his partner in crime Samson.
Together the duo propelled India to 283 runs, their highest outside India. Both Samson and Tilak now hold the record for highest partnership for India in T20Is, as they added 210 runs. Their excellent knock is also the 6th highest partnership in overall T20Is.
India have now registered 7 international centuries in the calendar year 2024, thus surpassing Royal Challengers Bengaluru (2016) and India (2023) themselves - where 5 centuries were scored on each occasion.
Sanju Samson has scored three of them while Tilak Varma has scored two. The others were scored by Abhishek Sharma and Rohit Sharma.
