The ninth edition of the T20 World Cup is down to two teams as inaugural champions India take on South Africa in the 2024 title clash at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados on Saturday (June 29).
Rohit Sharma-led India continued their unbeaten run with a thumping 68-run win over England in the semi-final to book the final spot, while Aiden Markram's South Africa annihilated Afghanistan with a 9-wicket win to seal their summit clash berth.

In the semi-final, Team India rode on skipper Rohit's impressive fifty to post 171 before spinners Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav claimed three wickets each to bundle out the defending champions England for 103 All Out.
Meanwhile, South African bowling unit led by Marco Jansen (3 for 16) and Tabraiz Shamsi (3 for 6) bundled out Afghanistan for a paltry 56 before skipper Markram and Reeza Hendricks scored unbeaten 20 plus runs to guide the Proteas to the final.
While the two sides prepare to clash for the title in the ninth edition of the T20 World Cup, here is a look at their previous record and their final appearances in the show-piece tournament so far:
Team India has won the title once so far, having lifted the trophy under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the inaugural edition of the show-piece tournament, when they defeated Pakistan in the final by 5 runs.
The MS Dhoni-led Men in Blue also came close in the 2014 edition, but fell short in the title clash against Sri Lanka, who won the title after a 6-wicket win.
South Africa has never won the title so far, having reached only as far the semi-finals in the previous World Cups. The Proteas will have a great chance to end their wait in their first-ever final appearance against India.
While India has won the title once, England and West Indies are the most the successful sides in the T20 World Cup history with both teams winning the title two times so far. Rohit & Co have a chance to go level with the two nations on Saturday (June 29).
Apart from India, West Indies and England, Australia, Pakistan and Sri Lanka are the other teams to have lifted the T20 World Cup so far with all three teams winning the cup once.
India, Sri Lanka and England have also reached the final most times with all three teams playing in three title clashes. Australia, West Indies and Pakistan, meanwhile, have reached the final two times each.
New Zealand is the only team that has reached the final and not managed to win the title so far. The Blackcaps lost their only final appearance against Australia in 2021. Sri Lanka has the most runners up finish with 2 final losses. Here is a look at the final results and T20 World Cup winners list:
