Tilak Varma blazed through to a magnificent century in the 4th T20I against South Africa on Friday (November 15).
The southpaw scored an unbeaten 120 runs off just 47 deliveries as India posted a mammoth 283 runs in Johannesburg, thus claiming their 2nd highest total in T20Is, and the highest outside of India.

Varma's partner of destruction Sanju Samson also scored a century, thus marking his 3rd ton in the last five T20I innings. Together, they forged a formidable 210-run partnership for the second wicket. This achievement marked them as the first pair from full member nations to score centuries in the same T20I innings.
The 22-year-old southpaw also became only the second India player to score consecutive T20I century, the other being Sanju Samson who achieved a similar feat earlier in the series.
Tilak scored an outstanding 107 in Centurion in the last match and followed it up with another batting blitzkrieg. The match saw India setting records beyond individual performances. The team recorded the most sixes in one innings between two full-member nations.
But apart from the centuries and proving his class, Tilak has now put himself at the top of a prestigious list after his excellent knock at the Wanderers.
Tilak Varma is currently the only India batter who holds a T20I average of beyond 50. The two consecutive unbeaten knocks have helped massively to achieve this excellent milestone for the southpaw, who currently averages 51.33 in T20Is.
Tilak also crossed 500 T20I runs for India in the match and now has 616 runs in the format. In 20 matches, the youngster has hit 2 centuries and 2 fifties, with 50 fours and 36 sixes to his name as well.
India stalwart Virat Kohli, who retired from T20Is in June, has the second-highest average at 48.69, while Rinku Singh (Av: 46.09) is the second in the averages list for India among active players.
