India have lost the 1st Test against South Africa in Centurion, but Virat Kohli was a bright spark for the visitors in their dismal defeat.
Virat Kohli was batted decently for his 38 runs in the first inning and then was the sole fighter for India in the 2nd inning as the visitors crumbled for just 131 runs, thus falling to an innings defeat against the Proteas.

And with his fighting knocks in this match, Virat Kohli has achieved a stellar record. Kohli has now become only the 2nd player to score more than 8800 international runs in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia) countries.
The Indian batter now joins legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar with this particular record and will be hoping to excel that in coming matches. Kohli now has a total of 3500+ runs in Test matches in these countries. Additionally, he has 4265 ODI runs in these countries, and 1099 T20I runs as well.
The Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar is the highest scorer in the SENA countries with 10,213 runs across all formats (only 10 runs in his solitary T20I in South Africa).
Kohli was excellent with his 76 off just 82 balls. But sadly for India, the 35-year-old was the only player who showed some resistance in the second inning.
India have lost the first Test by an innings and 32 runs and now trail the series 1-0. The second Test will start from January 3, 2024, in Cape Town.
