IND vs SA: Rajat Patidar made his much-awaited India debut in the third and final ODI against South Africa at the Boland Park in Paarl on Thursday December, 21. The 30-year-old got a place in the eleven after Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out due to a finger injury.

Patidar was in contention to play the second ODI as well, but Rinku Singh got the debut cap ahead of him. The right-hand batter came out to open with Sai Sudharshan and scored 22 off 16 balls. His innings consisted of three fours and a six.

The Madhya Pradesh batter's partnership with Sudharshan accounted for 34 runs. On the first ball of the fifth over, Patidar hit a six over long-on and then hit another boundary on the third delivery. Nandre Burger struck on the fourth delivery after his full length delivery swing back in, took an inside edge and cleaned the leg stump.

Rajat Patidar's innings was short but mighty impressive and entertaining. He showed his class early in the innings when he reminded fans of Virender Sehwag through one of his shots.

India have been invited to bat in the series-deciding third ODI. They won the first ODI by eight wickets before going down by an equal margin in the second game.
