Mayank Yadav, Riyan Parag, Shivam Dube and Kuldeep Yadav were missing as India announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming tour to South Africa, where the team will play 4 T20Is, starting from November 8.
With several players already in Australia for the A Tour and some set to be involved in the Border Gavaskar Trophy, the usual suspects, especially the ones that featured in the recent Bangladesh series, found their place in the T20I squad led by Suryakumar Yadav.

Harshit Rana, who is yet to make his debut, is among the four players that miss out from the Bangladesh series. Rana misses out as he heads to Australia with the Test team, joining Nitish Kumar Reddy as the duo earn their maiden calls to the longest format side.
Apart from Rana and Reddy, pace sensation Mayank Yadav and all-rounder Riyan Parag also missed out from making the tour to South Africa. So, did some relatively seniors like Kuldeep Yadav and Shivam Dube.
Kuldeep, who featured in the first Test against New Zealand earlier this month, also did not find a place in the squad for the Border Gavaskar Trophy. But why did these four players not find a place in the T20I squad to travel to South Africa?
Speedster Mayank Yadav, who debuted in the previous series against Bangladesh, and all-rounder Riyan Parag, will miss the tour as they continue their recovery.
Parag is currently undergoing long-term treatment for a chronic shoulder injury, while Shivam Dube remains sidelined after missing the Bangladesh series for the same reason.
Kuldeep was unavailable for selection for the tour of Australia since he was referred to the BCCI Centre of Excellence after the end of the ongoing Test series against New Zealand for long-term resolution of his chronic left groin issue.
Karnataka pacer Vyshak Vijaykumar has earned his maiden call up to the Indian team as one of the fast bowling options, while Ramandeep Singh and Yash Dayal have also been named in the 15-member group that will be travelling to South Africa.
Axar Patel, who also missed out on making the squad for the BGT Down Under, has been included in the T20I squad as the third spin option alongside Ravi Bishnoi and Varun Chakravarthy.
Vyshak and Dayal will be part of the pace attack that is set to be spearheaded by Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan with all-rounder Hardik Pandya also as another option. Samson, who opened the batting in Bangladesh series, will be the wicketkeeper along with Jitesh Sharma.
Tilak Varma and Abhishek Sharma, who were part of the India A squad that bowed out of the Emerging Asia Cup in the semi-final, also retain their spots alongside Rinku Singh. Here is a look at the Indian squad:
Suryakumar Yadav (captain), Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson (wicketkeeper), Rinku Singh, Tilak Varma, Jitesh Sharma (wicketkeeper), Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Ramandeep Singh, Varun Chakaravarthy, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh, Vijaykumar Vyshak, Avesh Khan, Yash Dayal.
