The Gautam Gambhir era starts today (Saturday, July 27) as India is set to take on Sri Lanka in the 1st T20I at the Pallekele International Stadium in Kandy.
The match will also start a new chapter for Suryakumar Yadav, who has been appointed as India's T20 captain for the foreseeable future.

India has named a strong team for the Sri Lanka series. The team reached Kandy five days back and had a few excellent training sessions. And as they take on the field, Gambhir and co. will name a strong team against the struggling Sri Lankan side, who have already lost three players due to injuries.
Suryakumar Yadav will be the obvious choice as the captain, while team India will play Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill at the top of the order. There will be a toss between Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson as the wicketkeeper but the latter may get the nod for the role.
Hardik Pandya has been the focal character of late as the Indian all-rounder lost his vice-captaincy and a potential captain role. But amid the speculations, Pandya is set to play the match today. Rinku Singh will be playing the finished role for India.
Washington Sundar may have to sit out as Axar Patel may come into the side. The former had a superb outing in Zimbabwe but the team management may opt with Axar for his experience and T20 World Cup performances. Axar was selected ahead of Ravindra Jadeja in the series.
Ravi Bishnoi will be the sole frontline spinner and Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Siraj are likely to be India's pace options. Riyan Parag may find an opportunity as India does have five bowling options.
Shivam Dube, Rishabh Pant, Khaleel Ahmed and Washington Sundar are the players who may have to sit out in this match.
