R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo Pitch Report

"It's a very warm afternoon. The breeze that is blowing across is warm. We have moved a couple of strips across. The pitch is dry. Very similar to the one we played on a couple of days ago. The gaps between the cracks are pretty wide. There's going to be a lot of crumbling. Captain winning the toss would want to bat first. The key as a batter is to hit the gaps and run, wear the opposition down," Russel Arnold said ahead of the toss in 2nd ODI.

Sri Lanka opted to bat first for the second consecutive time in the series. Indian spinners chipped in with six wickets, while pacer Mohammed Siraj picked one wicket. Two Sri Lanka batters got run out.

In reply, India were bundled out for 208 in 42.2 overs. The Sri Lanka spinners picked nine wickets including a six-wicket haul from Jaffrey Vandersay. One India batter got run out.

In the first ODI as well, Sri Lanka spinners chipped in with nine wickets. In fact, Sri Lanka opted to play with just one pacer in the second ODI.

The average score in the last five ODIs is 165. Pacers have picked 21 and spinners 56 wickets in these matches. It's very clear that spinners get a lot of help here, but pacers can also strike early in the innings. Teams winning the toss have opted to bat first 83 percent of the time in the last five years in ODI matches in Colombo.
