IND vs SL: A Rinku Singh overthrow in the first T20I between helped Sri Lanka get six runs in the first T20I against India at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on Saturday, July 27.
On the first ball of the 12th over, an angling delivery from Hardik Pandya was worked towards square leg by Sri Lanka opener Pathum Nissanka. He completed the single with ease and then hurried for a double with partner Kusal Perera.
Rinku Singh, who was patrolling the region, was quick to pounce on the ball and release a rocket throw. Riyan Parag was standing behind the stumps, however the ball deflected off the wood and crossed the deep cover boundary rope.
Six runs were awarded initially but five were awarded after umpires confirmed that Nissanka and Perera hadn't crossed each other when Rinku Singh released the throw. Nonetheless, Nissanka completed a stunning fifty with the single itself, and the four overthrow runs was added to his individual run tally.

Pathum Nissanka's 48-ball 79 gave India a major scare in the match. His partnership with Kusal Mendis accounted for 84 runs off 52 balls. Later, he forged a 56-run partnership off 33 balls with Kusal Perera.
However, his wicket on the first ball of the 15th over changed the momentum of the match. From 140/1 in 14 overs, Sri Lanka were reduced to 163/7 in 17.1 overs.
Perera was also dismissed by Axar, before Riyan Parag clean bowled Kamindu Mendis in the 17th over. Dasun Shanaka got run out for a duck, while Arshdeep Singh picked the wicket of Wanindu Hasaranga in the 18th over.
