IND vs SL: Rishabh Pant goes Past Fifty, hits massive 95-metre Six breaking Solar Panel in Colombo

Rishabh Pant's aggressive approach to Test cricket was on full display during the second morning of the Colombo Test against Sri Lanka.

The India batter had to go out of action on Day 1 of the encounter when he was batting on 3. A ball suddenly hit his wrist, and Pant didn't feature after going off.

But shrugging off the wrist injury, the Indian wicketkeeper-batter hit a massive 95-meter six that broke a solar panel on the roof of the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) Stadium.

Pant's innings almost ended prematurely on Day 1 when he took a sharp blow to the wrist from a Lahiru Kumara bouncer. He was forced to retire hurt after facing just 15 deliveries. After the Indian medical staff cleared him to resume, he returned to the crease on the second morning as India lost a flurry of quick wickets.

Sri Lanka immediately resumed their short-pitch bowling, with the pace attack repeatedly targeting Pant's body. The left-hander took a few more hits during his stay, requiring the Indian physio to step out for on-field check-ups. Instead of adopting a defensive mindset, Pant chose to counter-attack.

The standout moment of the morning session came in the 90th over of the Indian innings. Operating from around the wicket, Kumara dug another delivery in short, testing the batter's reactions. Pant moved inside the line early and timed his shot cleanly, launching the ball high over the fine-leg boundary.

The shot carried an estimated 95 meters, landing directly on the stadium roof and shattering one of the installed solar panels.

India Pushing for Huge Total

Beyond the viral moment of the broken panel, Pant's innings served a highly practical purpose for the visitors. His steady accumulation of runs absorbed the pressure created by the Sri Lankan pacers during a tricky phase of play.

He is unbeaten on 63 off 88 balls as India are 419/6 on the first session of Day 2. The Indian team rode its fortunes as Devdutt Padikkal played yet another fantastic knock and scored 117 on the day. Since then, Pant and Dhruv Jurel have taken over the scoring duties with the latter batting unbeaten on 59 as well.
