IND vs SL: Three India players who underperformed in T20 Series

India clinched the T20I series against Sri Lanka after a decent outing in Gautam Gambhir's first assignment as India head coach.

The Indian team, led by Suryakumar Yadav, has done extremely well in the series. A new-looked Indian team without the senior players such as Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja.

India

The Indian team has done fairly well. Suryakumar Yadav led his troops his quite decently while players such as Riyan Parag, Yashasvi Jaiswal also played key part in it. India secured a superb victory in the first match and then secured another victory in the second T20 encounter. Then team India pulled off a stunning victory in the final match to ensure 3-0 series win.

Although the series has been mostly a positive one for India, there are still some concerns for the team which need to be addressed. Here are three players who underperformed massively in the T20 series.

Sanju Samson

Sanju Samson managed no run in the series in two matches. The Indian wicketkeeper-batter had an underwhelming outing and that has dented his chances in the team for the upcoming assignments. Two consecutive ducks against Sri Lanka may be enough to take him further down the pecking order. With Samson not getting a callup for the ODI team, he may have to wait for a long time to wear the India jersey again.

Mohammed Siraj

Mohammed Siraj also had an underwhelming outing in Sri Lanka. The pacer could only manage a solitary wicket in three matches and was largely disappointing. Siraj lost his place to Kuldeep Yadav in the latter stages of the T20 World Cup and yet another moderate outing may mean an axe in the upcoming encounters. Siraj is likely to remain in the Test format and ODIs, but youngsters may be preferred over him in coming days.

Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya had a moderate outing in the two matches that he played in the Sri Lanka series. The all-rounder was expensive with the ball and was largely ineffective in the wickets column. He played a cameo with the bat but the all-rounder is expected to perform a lot better. Pandya is another who won't play in the ODI series and his T20 credentials can also have major questions after the disappointing outing in Sri Lanka.
