IND vs WI: 'Birthday gift hume de bhai 100 run kar k,' says Rohit Sharma as Ishan Kishan turns 25

India captain Rohit Sharma was at his hilarious best when asked about his birthday gift to Ishan Kishan on Tuesday. The wicketkeeper-batter, who made his Test debut in the first Test against West Indies, turned 25 on July 18.

In a video titled 'A day in the life of birthday boy' posted by the BCCI, Rohit says the youngster has got everything in life and should instead give his team a gift by scoring a hundred in the upcoming second Test at the Queen's Park Oval in Trinidad.

"Kya birthday gift? Kya chahiye bhai tereko? Sab toh hai bhai. Birthday gift tu humlogo k de bhai 100 run kar k (What birthday gift? What do you want brother? You already have everything. You give us the birthday gift instead by scoring a hundred)," Rohit told Kishan who is also his teammate at Mumbai Indians.

Ishan Kishan in his debut Test match took 20 balls to score his first run. As soon as the Patna-born cricketer completed his single, Rohit declared India first innings at 421/5.

He has praised Kishan ahead of the first Test and said that the youngster would be backed to play aggressive cricket. Rohit also admitted that Kishan's wicket-keeping skills in his debut Test impressed him a lot.

“Ishan is a very talented guy. We’ve seen it in the short career that he’s had for India. He recently made 200 runs in limited-overs (ODI against Bangladesh last December). He has the game and the talent and we have to harness that talent," Rohit said ahead of the first Test.

“I have had a clear conversation with him on how I want him to play and have given him complete freedom. He has the game and if he wants a bit of freedom to express himself, then that is our job. We will do that with Ishan.

“I will like to speak specifically about his wicket-keeping. He kept really, really well considering he played his first Test and to keep against Ashwin and Jadeja where the ball is turning and bouncing and some balls keeping low as well… I was very impressed with his keeping skills," Rohit has said ahead of the second Test which kicks off from Thursday, July 20 in Port of Spain, Trinidad.
