IND vs WI Dream11 prediction: India vs West Indies 1st T20I pitch report, injury update

IND vs WI Dream11 prediction India vs West Indies 1st T20I: Indian cricket team will return to action less than a day after a series triumph as they take on West Indies in the first of the five T20Is at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, San Fernando on August 3, 2023.

Hardik Pandya will take charge as the dedicated captain for the T20s as the likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma continue to sit out of the international T20 fold since last year's World Cup. Indian team is having a nice time during the Caribbean Tour so far as they won the Test and ODI series with some dominance and are expected to win the T20 series as well.

IND vs WI injury update

There are no injury updates reported ahead of the match. Any team news in build up to the match will be added when available.

IND vs WI key players

(Ishan Kishan, Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya): Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill are in focus as the batters scored runs recently, including half-centuries at this venue. This puts Yashasvi Jaiswal's spot in doubt unless Ishan bats at No. 3 with Suryakumar Yadav at No. 4. The middle-order batter failed to score big in the ODI formats but he is a different beast in the T20s.

Sanju Samson's inclusion in the line-up remains a question and could come at the cost of Yashasvi Jaiswal in the line-up as the Kerala batter scored a half-century in the final ODI at the same venue as well. Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma are expected to play the finishers role with Axar Patel as the spin all-rounder.

Among bowlers, Kuldeep Yadav is likely to play the sole specialist spinner ahead of Yuzvendra Chahal as the Chinaman took seven wickets in three ODIs while Chahal is yet to play the tour. Mukesh Kumar impressed with three wickets and could make his T20 international debut as India are expected to play three pacer.

Other pacers competing for the three spots are Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan and Umran Malik. Malik went wicketless in two ODIs while Arshdeep and Avesh are part of the T20 team for the series.

West Indies key players

(Nicholas Pooran, Shai Hope) Nicholas Pooran comes into the West Indies side after smashing a big century in the inaugural Major League Cricket in the USA while Shai Hope's recent form will be a key after the batter scored a half century in West Indies' sole win in the series at the 2nd ODI.

Shimron Hetmyer returns to T20 side after a gap of a year as he impressed during the IPL 2023. His recent form, however, is questionable with a dismal show of 24 runs over three innings. All-rounder Kyle Mayers could be a good addition too given his form in T20s during the IPL.
