IND vs WI: India Smash Fastest-Ever T20I Fifty as Sanju Samson Blazes Against West Indies

New Delhi, Oct 14: In a breathtaking display of uninhibited boundary-hitting, India rewrote the record books on 14 October 2026, registering their fastest-ever team fifty in Men's T20I history. Locking horns with the West Indies in the fourth T20I, the Men in Blue blitzed their way to the 50-run milestone in just 3 overs, an astonishing 18 deliveries that dismantled the opposition's bowling plans before the field restrictions had barely set in.

At the epicentre of this powerplay hurricane was in-form opener Sanju Samson, whose blistering assault set the tone from the very first ball. Striking the ball with supreme authority and effortless flair, Samson not only drove the team's record-breaking sprint but also raised his individual half-century just four deliveries later, taking a mere 20 balls to get there.

The onslaught shattered India's previous benchmarks for early-overs acceleration, sending a clear message about their relentless, high-tempo white-ball philosophy. It was an exhibition of audacious modern T20 batting, fast, fearless, and ruthlessly clinical, leaving the Caribbean attack scrambling for answers amid an unrelenting flurry of boundaries.

Hope's Ton Powers WI To 2nd Highest T20 Score Against IND

West Indies captain Shai Hope continued his sensational run on the India tour, smashing an unbeaten century to guide his team to 247/3 in 20 overs in the fourth T20I at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Wednesday. India now face a challenging target of 248 runs.
Hope struck 102 not out off just 50 deliveries, while Sherfane Rutherford provided excellent support with an unbeaten 49 off 26 balls. The duo added 91 runs for the fourth wicket, registering the second-highest fourth-wicket partnership for West Indies in T20 Internationals.

Hope brought up his half-century in just 28 balls before accelerating in the closing overs. He finished the innings with two consecutive sixes, completing his third T20I century. The milestone also took him past 2,000 runs in the format, making him the fourth West Indies batter to reach the mark.

The visitors began aggressively after being asked to bat first, scoring 79/1 in the powerplay, their highest powerplay total against India in T20Is. Jewel Andrew contributed 21 off 16 balls before Axar Patel dismissed him.

Shimron Hetmyer added further momentum with a blistering 33 off just 12 deliveries at a strike rate of 275. His explosive innings helped West Indies reach 100 in only 7.4 overs, equalling their fastest team hundred against India in T20Is.

Despite a brief fightback from India's bowlers, Hope and Rutherford ensured the visitors finished strongly. West Indies recorded their third consecutive 200-plus total after batting first in the series, putting India under significant pressure.
