Yashasvi Jaiswal reveals how IPL helped him destroy West Indies bowlers

India stamped their authority in the 4th T20I against West Indies with a thumping victory on Saturday (August 12).

The visitors made a mockery of West Indies' 178 runs as they chased the target with three overs to spare. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill added 165 runs in the opening wicket and decimated the West Indies bowlers.

Gill departed for 77 runs off 47 balls, while Jaiswal remained unbeaten with a stunning batting display. The southpaw scored 84 off just 51 balls and was awarded the Player of the Match for his brilliant batting. And after the match, Jaiswal revealed how the Indian Premier League played its role in his brilliant batting.

Speaking at the post-match presentation, Jaiswal said having Jason Holder and Obed McCoy in IPL helped him to be prepared against them. With both Holder and McCoy playing for Rajasthan Royals, Jaiswal has faced a lot of the duo in the nets and that aided him on Saturday.

"Reading the wicket, reading the situation, how I can take the game deep everything is important. My intent is always to score runs. I have played a lot of balls against them (Holder and McCoy in the IPL), helped me to read them," Jaiswal said.

The Indian batter also praised his batting partner Shubman Gill, who also batted exquisitely to help India level the T20I series.

"The partnership with Gill was really amazing. The way we were talking and the way we were taking singles and understanding each other was excellent. He batted really well. The way he was rotating the strike, it's really important to build the partnership," the Southpaw added.

Jaiswal also became the 4th youngest player to score a fifty in the T20 format for India at the age of 21 years 227 days. His 165-run partnership with Shubman Gill is now the joint 2nd highest partnership for India for any wicket in T20Is.
