India first trailed 0-2 before equaling the series, and then again choking to an 8-wicket defeat in the final. The openers failed with Rohit Sharma missing at top, the middle-order and the lower-middle-order also failed in the absence of Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja.

Pace bowling inexperience

Mohammad Siraj and Mohammad Shami missing was a big factor. The pace unit was led by inexperienced Mukesh Kumar and Arshdeep Singh. Hardik Pandya's experiment with Hardik Pandya misfired with the captain leaking 32 in three overs.
