IND vs WI: Yashasvi Jaiswal credits one India teammate after 'emotional' debut century

Yashasvi Jaiswal has etched his name in the history books with a dream debut for India. The young southpaw scored a brilliant century on his Test debut against West Indies.

Jaiswal became only the 16th Indian to score a century on Test debut, and looks set to score big as he remains unbeaten on 143 at the end of the second day.

It has been a roller coaster ride for the 21-year-old, who has epitomized struggle in this inspiring journey. The young sensation has endured a lot of unimaginable hurdles but has battled it out to prevail and emerge as a Champion.

And after the match, the batter was oozing in satisfaction and said it was one of his most emotional knocks. The southpaw also credited one particular India teammate for his opportunity.

"I think this is one of the emotional knock for me, it's difficult to get opportunities in the Indian team, I would like to thank everyone, the supporters, team management and Rohit Bhai," Jaiswal said to broadcasters after the end of the day's play.

Jaiswal, who generally is a very aggressive batter, has taken 350 balls to get to his 143 runs. And he reckons the slowness of the pitch has made batting an even greater challenge.

"The pitch is on the slower side and the outfield is very slow, it was difficult and challenging, it was pretty hot and I wanted to keep doing it for my country, just play ball-by-ball and enjoy my cricket," he added.

Amid the ongoing surge of T20 cricket, Jaiswal says he loves the Test format and the challenge it brings with the testing conditions with swinging and seaming balls. It is to be seen how many more runs he can pile on Friday as India eye a mammoth first-innings lead.

India captain Rohit Sharma also scored his 10th Test hundred, while Virat Kohli is at the crease unbeaten on 36 as India are 312 for 2 after the end of 2nd day's play.
