IND vs ZIM: India secure Huge Win, but THIS player left with Humbling Record at Chepauk

India's Super 8 journey in the T20 World Cup 2026 took a dramatic turn at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

While the "Men in Blue" secured a vital 72-run victory over Zimbabwe to keep their semi-final dreams alive, a "humbling" record created by Indian all-rounder Shivam Dube is a concern.

IND vs ZIM India secure Huge Win but THIS player left with Humbling Record at Chepauk

On a night where India dominated with the bat, Dube found himself on the wrong side of history in front of a stunned Chepauk crowd.

After a painful loss to South Africa, India entered this match needing a statement win. Batting first on a smooth Chennai track, the Indian batters were in a different league. Abhishek Sharma returned to form with a blistering 55 off 30 balls, while Hardik Pandya provided the late fireworks with an unbeaten 50 off just 23 balls*.

Tilak Varma also joined the party, smashing 44 off 16 balls* at a strike rate of 275. India posted a massive 256/4, the highest total in this edition of the World Cup. Zimbabwe, in response, fought valiantly through Brian Bennett, who played the innings of his life, scoring an unbeaten 97 off 59 balls*. However, Zimbabwe was restricted to 184/6, handing India a comfortable 72-run win.

Shivam Dube creates Humbling Record

Despite India's dominance, Shivam Dube's bowling performance became a major talking point. Dube was brought into the attack to finish off the middle and death overs, but Zimbabwe's Brian Bennett and Tashinga Musekiwa took a particular liking to his medium-pace deliveries.

Dube bowled only two overs in the match, but they were historically expensive:

Over 1 (15th Over): Conceded 26 runs (Sequence: 2, 6, 4, 4, Wd, 0, NB, Wd, Wd, 6).
Over 2 (20th Over): Conceded 20 runs, including a six and a four on the final two balls of the match.

Total Stats for Shivam Dube: 2 Overs; 46 Runs; 1 Wicket; Economy: 23.00

With 46 runs conceded in his first two overs, Shivam Dube now holds the unwanted record for the most runs conceded by a bowler in the first two overs of his spell in a T20 World Cup match.
