Women's Premier League (WPL) stars Asha Sobhana and Sajana Sajeevan are among the fresh faces named by the BCCI in the Indian women's squad for the five-match T20I series against Bangladesh.
Royal Challengers Bangalore's Sobhana created history by becoming the first Indian cricketer to achieve a five-wicket haul in WPL, recording figures of 5/22 against UP Warriorz and finished as the joint second-highest wicket-taker in the leaguewith 12 wickets in 10 matches.

Sajeevan, on the other hand, announced herself to the world in the opening game of the WPL 2024 when she smashed a six off the last ball to win the game for Mumbai Indians on her debut. She scored 87 runs at a brisk pace of 158.18 - the second-best strike rate of the tournament.
Harmanpreet Kaur will continue to lead the side with opener Smriti Mandhana serving as her deputy, while the two wicketkeepers in the 16-member squad will be Richa Ghosh and Yastika Bhatia.
Shafali Verma, Dayalan Hemalatha will be the other batters in the side, while Deepti Sharma, Shreyanka Patil, Amanjot Kaur and Pooja Vastrakar will be the all-rounders. Renuka Singh Thakur, Titas Sadhu, Radha Yadav and Saika Ishaque complete the squad as bowling options.
This will be India's second tour of Bangladesh in the last two years. Last year, the 'Women in Blue' played three 20-over matches against Bangladesh and Harmanpreet's side won the series 2-1.
The upcoming T20I series will kick off India's preparation for the upcoming T20 World Cup. The women's 20-over World Cup will kick off in September-October and will be played in Bangladesh.
According to ESPNcricinfo, the India women's team will arrive in Bangladesh on April 23 with first match of the series taking place on April 28. The second and third games will be played on April 30 and May 2 respectively. The final two matches will be held on May 6 and 24.
