Arundhati Reddy stole the show in India’s win over Pakistan at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 on October 6, taking three wickets for 19 runs in a player-of-the-match performance at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
India got their first win at the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 on Sunday as they defeated Pakistan by six wickets, chasing down a total of 106 runs in 18.5 overs. Reddy’s bowling figures were vital in restricting the Shaheens to a total of 105, which captain Fatima Sana later said was “10 to 15 runs short”.

In the post-match interview, 27-year-old pacer Arundhati Reddy explained the hard work that she put into making herself ready for bowling on the big stages in crunch games like India vs Pakistan.
“I’ve been bowling with the new ball, and had to be prepared for the powerplay,” Reddy said in the post-match interview (as per Cricbuzz). “We had a good powerplay… I have worked a lot on my T20 bowling, in all stages of the game. I’ll be working even harder now.”
The right-arm medium pacer was on fire against Pakistan, with the slight bounce in the Dubai pitch aiding her game. She finished the game with a three-wicket haul in four overs, taking the crucial wickets of Omaima Sohail (3), Nida Dar (28), and Aliya Riaz (4).
Arundhati Reddy's bowling figure of 3/19 is the seventh-best bowling figure in India vs Pakistan matches at the Women's T20 World Cup and was the sixth three-wicket haul in those matches.
Her dismissal of the dangerous Nida Dar was crucial, as the legendary all-rounder had just started to get into the groove of the match. However, her dismissal completely sapped the Pakistani batting line-up of any hope, effectively ending any chance of a late surprise by the Shaheens.
