IND-W vs PAK-W: Two Changes India may make ahead of clash against Pakistan

By MyKhel Staff

The Indian women's team suffered a crushing loss at the hands of New Zealand in their T20 World Cup opener on Friday (October 4).

India's performance against New Zealand, where they managed only 102 runs in response to New Zealand's 160, has sparked conversations about potential adjustments to the team.

India's next clash is on Sunday against the arch-rivals Pakistan, which is a pivotal encounter for India. A defeat will mean virtually an exit for the Indian team. Ahead of the important clash, there have been questions regarding the team's lineup.

IND-W vs PAK-W: Will India make changes in their lineup?

The possibility of incorporating Radha Yadav into the team is being considered to enhance the spin attack against Pakistan, given the slower pitches in Dubai. There's a widespread expectation for tough decisions by the team management to bounce back strongly in this crucial encounter.

One specific area of concern has been Deepti Sharma's performance, where she conceded 45 runs in her four overs during the game against New Zealand. Despite calls for her removal, it's anticipated that the team management will continue to support her and keep her in the team.

India's strategy for the top and middle order appears to be settled, with Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma opening, followed by skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Richa Ghosh. This lineup suggests a balance of aggression and stability, essential for building a competitive total or chasing a target.

In terms of bowling, Renuka Singh and Pooja Vastrakar are expected to maintain their roles, but the inclusion of Radha Yadav over Arundhati Reddy is likely to be explored. Richa Ghosh also struggled in the last match, and that can provide an opportunity for Yastika Bhatia as well.
