India's cricket team is gearing up for a crucial Women's T20 World Cup match against Sri Lanka today (October 9). The India captain Harmanpreet Kaur suffered a neck injury in the match against Pakistan on Sunday (October 6).
Harmanpreet had to leave the field while batting on 29 in the match against Pakistan, which India won by six wickets. Although victorious, India's path to the semi-finals remains uncertain after an earlier loss to New Zealand. The upcoming match against Sri Lanka is a must-win situation for India if they hope to advance further in the tournament.

India's vice captain Smriti Mandhana attended the press conference on Tuesday and gave the crucial update on Harmanpreet Kaur.
Despite an injury scare, captain Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the team. She was forced to retire hurt during the previous game against Pakistan due to neck discomfort. However, Mandhana has confirmed that Harmanpreet is fit and ready to play.
"She (Harmanpreet) is doing fine and she will be fine for tomorrow," Mandhana said.
India's next opponent, Sri Lanka, recently defeated them in the Asia Cup final. This fixture holds great significance as India still needs victories against teams like Australia to secure a semifinal spot. Amid this, Harmanpreet's return will be a massive boost for the Indian team, as the team knows the importance of a big-margin win over Sri Lanka to bolster their Net Run Rate. But contrastingly, a defeat like the Asia Cup Final will mean virtually curtains for the Indian team.
There is still uncertainty regarding all-rounder Pooja Vastrakar's fitness. She missed the match against Pakistan due to medical reasons.
"Pooja, I think the medical team is still working on her. So, the update will come only tomorrow during the match. But yeah, I don't think I can say anything at the moment," Mandhana stated.
