Here are five of the greatest Indian athletes of all time:

1. Milkha Singh

Milkha Singh, known as "The Flying Sikh," is one of India's most celebrated athletes. A former track and field sprinter, Milkha's remarkable journey from the trauma of the Partition to becoming a world-class athlete is truly inspiring. Despite this, his numerous Asian Games gold medals and his record-breaking performances in the Commonwealth Games make him a legendary figure in Indian sports history.

2. Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin Tendulkar, often referred to as the "God of Cricket," is arguably the greatest cricketer India has ever produced. Over a career spanning 24 years, Tendulkar set numerous records, including being the highest run-scorer in both Test and One-Day International cricket. He is the only player to have scored 100 international centuries and was a key figure in India's 2011 ICC World Cup triumph. Tendulkar's contributions to cricket have earned him unparalleled respect and admiration worldwide.

Specializing in sprint and hurdles, she dominated Asian athletics in the 1980s, winning multiple gold medals at the Asian Games and Asian Championships. Usha narrowly missed a bronze medal in the 400 meters hurdles at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, finishing fourth. Her achievements and dedication to athletics have inspired countless young athletes, particularly women, in India.

4. Dhyan Chand

Dhyan Chand, often referred to as the "Wizard of Hockey," is widely regarded as the greatest field hockey player of all time. He was instrumental in India winning three consecutive Olympic gold medals in 1928, 1932, and 1936.
