India Asia Cup 2025 Squad: No Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson In, Jasprit Bumrah set to Miss? Report makes huge claim

As the Asia Cup 2025 is less than a month away, the BCCI is set to pick the India squad for the continental tournament.

As per PTI, BCCI selectors are likely to announce the squad either on August 19 or 20, depending on the day they get the latest fitness update on all the players from the sports science team.

After a hard fought England series, the focus now shifts to T20I format, which will be the modus operandi of Asia Cup. India are grouped with Pakistan, Hong Kong and UAE and will have a big task in hand.

Having said that, the report from PTI has also indicated some interesting insights about the team for the tournament. As per the report, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sai Sudharsan are likely not to have a place in the squad.

No Yashasvi Jaiswal

Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sai Sudharsan will miss out, whereas KL Rahul may not be considered as well. After a few underwhelming outings, Rinku Singh may not also find a place in the team.

"Abhishek Sharma is world's No. 1 T20 batter in last ICC rankings. Sanju Samson has been fantastic last season with both bat and gloves. So it will certainly be a tough call but Shubman in current form (although in Tests) can't be ignored. He had a good IPL also. Problem for selectors is, there are too many performers at the top of the order," a BCCI source was quoted as saying by PTI.

Sanju Samson In

Sanju Samson is set to be the first choice wicketkeeper for India in the Asia Cup. The Kerala-born has been excellent in the format in recent times and is set to be the starter. Apart from Samson, Dhruv Jurel and Jitesh Sharma will fight out for the other place, as Rishabh Pant is injured.

Jasprit Bumrah may be picked

If Jasprit Bumrah is fit, the pace star will be picked for Asia Cup. Along with Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh is also another bowler who is set to be named for the squad. Prasidh Krishna and Harshit Rana will be fighting for the third seamer slot.

All-Rounder Scenario

Although Hardik Pandya hasn't played too much for India in recent times, the all-rounder is set to be named. Axar Patel and Washington Sundar are likely the spin-bowling all-rounders for India, whereas Shivam Dube may also find a place in the team.
