India-Australia Tests: Axar Patel replaces injured Ravindra Jadeja

Mumbai, Dec 22: India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was today ruled out of the remainder of the Test series against Australia due to shoulder injury.

Jadeja will fly back to India to undergo a rehabilitation programme. Gujarat all-rounder Axar Patel will join the Indian team in Australia for the remaining 2 Tests. Axar has played 9 ODIs but is yet to feature in a Test match.

"Axar Patel will join the Indian team in Australia for the remainder of the Test Series as a replacement for Ravindra Jadeja, who has a shoulder injury and will be returning to India to undergo a rehabilitation programme," BCCI secretary Sanjay Patel said in a press release today.

India are trailing 0-2 in the four-Test series. The third Test starts in Melbourne on December 26. The 4th and final Test is in Sydney from January 6, 2015.
