The subcontinent giants achieved the feat after the latest ICC Test rankings saw them pip Australia to become the number one ranked team in the longest format of the game. Notably, the side defeated Australia by an innings and 132 runs in the first match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy in Nagpur. Rohit Sharma's men now have 115 points, four more than Australia.
The Men in Blue became the number one ranked ODI team in January after beating New Zealand 3-0 in the home ODI series. They have become the number one ranked T20I team after beating West Indies 3-0 at home
