India on Wednesday created history by becoming the first Asian team to claim the number one ranking in all the three formats of the game at the same time.

The subcontinent giants achieved the feat after the latest ICC Test rankings saw them pip Australia to become the number one ranked team in the longest format of the game. Notably, the side defeated Australia by an innings and 132 runs in the first match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy in Nagpur. Rohit Sharma's men now have 115 points, four more than Australia.

The Men in Blue became the number one ranked ODI team in January after beating New Zealand 3-0 in the home ODI series. They have become the number one ranked T20I team after beating West Indies 3-0 at home

India face Australia in the second Test from February 17. A win in the second Test will help them retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and take them close to the final of World Test Championship (WTC) 2021-23. India need to win the series 3-0 or 3-1 to make the final.
