Team India handed the best fielder with a special medal in the Champions Trophy 2025 following the 4-wicket victory over Australia in the semi-final in Dubai on Tuesday (March 4).
After an all-round bowling effort bundled Australia for 264 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Virat Kohli scored a crucial 84 to take India men’s team into their third successive ICC event final.

Post the match, a tradition coined by the fielding coach T Dilip at the 2023 ODI World Cup made it's return at the start of the Champions Trophy 2025 as one of the Indian players received the best fielder medal for their performance on the field. Here is a look at who won the award in India vs Australia match:
In a video posted by BCCI, fielding coach T Dilip started off by commending the effort in the win in high-pressure contest at the Dubai venue before revealing standout performers - Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill, before inviting a familiar face to do the honours.
Iyer executed a crucial run out of a well-set Alex Carey, took the catch to dismiss Ben Dwarshius, and also saved a lot of runs on the field. Kohli, on the other hand, broke the record for most catches by safely pouching lofted efforts of Josh Inglis and Nathan Ellis.
Gill and Jadeja saved runs on the field, while the former also claimed an important catch to dismiss the dangerous Travis Head. These were the nominees as Dileep revealed former head coach Ravi Shastri will do the honours.
Before announcing the winner and doing the honours, Shastri said, "Individual brilliance will only take you to a certain level but it is the collective team effort that'll take you across the finishing line. Today two champion teams were playing, pressure game, character shown, team effort flashes of brilliance in the field always makes the difference. Normally, it's the turning point."
