Team India's Big Three: When will Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah return to action?

Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah were last seen donning the national outfit in the T20 World Cup 2024 final against South Africa in Barbados. Team India beat the Proteas by 7 runs in a thrilling encounter to win the second T20 World Cup trophy.

Following India's title triumph, three senior cricketers namely, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja announced their retirement from T20Is. Meanwhile, the fans are quite curious to know when India's big three - Kohli, Rohit and Bumrah will be back on the international scene.

The Indian trio will not be participating in the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. For the record, India's tour of Sri Lanka comprises three T20Is and as many ODIs. The T20I series will be played at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Pallekele whereas the ODI series will be played at R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.

When will Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah return?

As per a recent report from PTI, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah, sought a longish break from the BCCI, given the hectic last three months since the start of IPL. As a result, the Indian trio will not mark their presence for Sri Lanka ODIs, with the first, second and third ODI, slated to be played on August 2, 4 and 7 respectively.

Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah have been rested until the home series against Bangladesh. India's home assignment against Bangladesh comprises two Tests and three T20Is. The trio will be back in action to play the two Tests against the Tigers, which is part of the third cycle of the ICC World Test Championship.

Gautam Gambhir will be marking his debut as India's head coach for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka. Following the tour, he will join hands with India's big three for the home assignment against Bangladesh. The first Test will kick off on September 19 at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai whereas the second Test will get underway on September 27 at Green Park in Kanpur.
